Why should families send their children to Sacred Heart School? 
With a stable, highly educated and credentialed staff of teachers and administrators, we provide our children with a well-rounded educational experience through the use of intellectual stimulation, technological tools and artistic expressions. 
 
We support the family by assisting in development of strong character in our children – focusing on the values of respect, integrity, trust, compassion, social responsibility and fairness.  Our mission is to provide your child with the academic and moral foundation to flourish in their high school, college and adult lives. 

Is Sacred Heart School only for Catholic families?
We are guided by the Catholic Doctrine, yet embrace families of all denominations. 

What does SHS offer in their academic program?
In addition to a curriculum that meets NJ Department of Education, Middle States Accreditation, Diocesan certifications, we offer Art, Music, Library, Computer, Spanish and Physical Education.

Are all teachers at SHS certified by the NJ Department of Education?
All of our teachers have BA/BS degrees in Education and are certified by the NJ Dept. of Ed. Several of our teachers have Masters Degrees. One of our teachers is currently studying for her doctorate degree.

What is the average class size at Sacred Heart School?
Currently, we average 18-19 students in grades K - 8. 

What are the class hours at Sacred Heart School?
The school day runs from 7:50 AM to 2:10 PM. The Kindergarten runs from 7:50 AM to 2:00 PM.

What is the faculty and staff make up at Sacred Heart School?
There are ten certified full-time teachers, a librarian, and a nurse. Part-time staff includes a guidance counselor, as well as a computer science, art, music, physical education, and a Spanish teacher.

What extras are available for my child at Sacred Heart?
We offer:
Field Trips, After Care Services. The following optional after school programs are offered: Art Instruction, Mad Science, Girl Scouts, Computer Class, Dance Class, CYO Basketball, Instrumental Music Programs, Drama Club, Annual School Musical, Study Groups.

What kind of parental participation is expected or allowed?
Each family is asked to have at least 40 service hours each year. This provides for parents to be involved in every aspect of their child’s education. They can help serve lunch, serve on the playground during recess, serve on committees, help with classroom activities, and so on.  This program allows us to keep service-related costs down while allowing parents to interact with their child, their child’s friends and other parents, building the kind of family atmosphere that has become a trademark of Sacred Heart.

Do SHS students wear uniforms?
Yes, we do offer affordable uniforms through Flynn & O’Hara Uniform.
