Drug, Alcohol and Tobacco Program
This is a special program in all grades. On the primary and intermediate levels, the program is integrated into the science and social studies classes. Through discussion and participation in programs provided by the older children, the younger children learn that medication and household chemicals have special purposes. They also learn about strangers who offer candy. In the upper intermediate level, the children learn about specific drugs, their proper names, their purpose, if any, and their effect on the body and mind. The Junior High students have at least ten hours of Drug Education, etc. This occurs within the framework of the seventh and eighth grade science program as well as the social studies program.
